All About the Nikola Tre FCEV

Hydrogen is here. If you are unfamiliar with the truck’s features, here is what you need to know:

Specs

The Nikola fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) is a hydrogen-powered cabover made for longer or continuous metro-regional applications. It has a projected range of 500 miles, refuels in 20 minutes or less, and generates 536 continuous horsepower. Both Nikola vehicles, the Tre BEV (battery electric vehicle) and Tre FCEV are based on an electric drivetrain. The difference is the system responsible for generating the electric energy (nine batteries for the BEV; hydrogen fuel cells and two batteries for the FCEV) that powers the electric drivetrain.

Service & Parts

Electric HD vehicles have fewer moving parts and may require less maintenance. This is currently the case in electric passenger cars and buses, so it is plausible that the same will be true with HD trucks. Without an emissions or fuel delivery system, transmission, or driveline, the core mx component items have been drastically reduced, which should translate to reduced mx.

Nikola has partnered with a logistics provider to support, supply, and deliver parts efficiently to minimize downtime with assistance from ETHERO’s parts and service team.

Charging

Hydrogen is an eco-friendly element that plays a vital role in sustaining life. No other energy carrier is as abundant, making hydrogen the ideal solution for a zero-emissions world.

As an extension of Nikola, HYLA provides cost-effective hydrogen production, distribution, and dispensing solutions. Powered by hydrogen, the Nikola Tre FCEV emits zero carbon, with water being the only byproduct. HYLA’s mission is to solve the hydrogen fuel supply challenge to transition the commercial trucking industry to zero emissions.

To prepare to implement these solutions for your fleet, contact ETHERO’s energy solutions team at info@ethero.com or 804-823-1056.

Availability

Nikola Tre FCEV trucks are available to order now and are being produced at Nikola’s facility in Arizona.

If you would like to test drive an FCEV, reach out to your local ETHERO dealer to take the next step. Scheduling will depend on demo truck availability.

Incentives

The Nikola FCEV is eligible for multiple federal and state grants. Please visit our incentive page to learn more.
